Private Parker once in England he transferred to the 58th Battalion and joined them in the field in late 1916. At the end of September 1917, he had been appointed Lance Corporal.
On October 26, 1917, he was wounded with contusions and wounds to his left hip. He was sent to No. 44 Casualty Clearing Station and from there was admitted to No. 13 General Hospital located in Boulogne on October 27, 1917. He went to a convalescent facility on November 1st and then to a rest facility on November 2nd. Three weeks later he was again with his unit in the field.
In early January of 1918 he was sent to St. Pol and completed two courses which might have been Battle Fitness and Physical Training at the end of January he was again with his unit in the field. In the early part of February 1918 he was promoted to Corporal and then promoted to Lance Sergeant on August 9, 1918.
On October 1, 1918 Sergeant Parker was admitted to No. 14 Canadian Field Ambulance with a high fever of unknown origin. In the middle of October Sergeant Parker was admitted to No. 5 Casualty Clearing Station and then was admitted to No. 53 General Hospital in Boulogne on October 20th.  He was then sent to a Convalescent facility on October 25th with myalgia (muscle pain) and then at month end was sent to a Rest Area. He was able then to rejoin his unit following the end of the war on November 14, 1918.
On February 10, 1919 Sergeant Parker leaves France for England and then boarded the RMS Baltic on March 12, 1919 for the journey back to Canada.
On or before the middle of February 1920 he is admitted to the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Windsor and is suffering from the effects of influenza and toxemia. On February 20, 1920, he passes away after being ill for just about a week.
