  Following his enlistment and then during his training in Canada Private Leonard contacted Tuberculosis. It was 
  learned he contacted this from working on the dock as a machinist.
  He was discharged from serving in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces on July 4, 1916.
He died in Goderich, Ontario one day prior to his unit leaving Canada for overseas.
