Private Pocock was conscripted into service very late in the war under the Military Service Act of 1917.
He boarded the HMT Scoatian in Haliax on April 16, 1918 and arrived in Liverpool on April 28, 1918. That same day he transferred to the 4th Reserve Battalion based at Witley Camp – Surrey.
On September 28, 1918 he is posted to the Western Ontario Regimental Depot also at Witley Camp – Surrey and from October 3, 1918 he was on command to Canadian Corp Depot based at Buxton – Derbyshire= prior to his return to Canada.
He boarded the SS Scandinavian in Liverpool on November 19, 1918 and arrived back in Canada at St John, New Brunswick on November 30, 1918.
On December 4, 1918 he was posted to a casualty Company which means that he was diagnosed with tuberculosis while at Camp Witley.
He arrived back home to Wingham and on January 16, 1919 at 10:30 pm that evening Private Pocock died from the effects of pulmonary intestinal tuberculosis.
