     Grant was employed as a carpenter prior to him being conscripted in the Canadian Corps with the Military Service Act No. 187744 and he and his family were of the Presbyterian faith.                                                                                       From the time he was conscripted until the time he was in Halifax preparing for embarkation numbered approximately two months. He embarked from Canada on May 15, 1918 and arrived in Liverpool on May 27, 1918. He immediately transferred to the 1st Canadian Reserve Battalion - Seaford - Sussex while he was crossing the Atlantic. Private Henderson was then involved in the 11th draft and is posted to the 29th Battalion and then goes overseas into France on September 14, 1918. He is at the Canadian Reinforcement Camp where he transfers to the 21st Battalion and travels to the field on September 19th and joins his Battalion.                                                                                           Following the end of hostilities he is admitted to No. 53 Casualty Clearing Station based at Houyet near Rouen with influenza. Then, he is reported to be dangerously ill on March 3, 1919 and a week later he dies from the effects of broncho-pneumonia.
