Private McFalls was killed in action during supporting military operations southwest of Passchendaele.
What we do know is that he lost his life on either October 23rd or 24th 1917.
October 23rd – one Ordinary Rank was killed. The wind was from the west at 6 mph and it was raining. The Battalion moved into support at 2 pm after relieving the 2nd Wellington Battalion.
October 24th – the wind was from the west at 16 mph, cloud came in and it rained the rest of the day and the Battalion moved to the front line areas with “D” Company on the front and “A, B & C” providing support. This was south of the Gravenstafel Road.
This is the total information available to us from the files of Private McFalls, from the diaries of the 58th Battalion and the 9th Infantry Brigade.
