Enlistment Age: 18 years 5 months
Private Taggart and his unit boarded the SS Olympic in Halifax and embarked from Canada on April 1, 1916 and arrived in England on April 11, 1916.
At the end of May 1916 he transferred to the 50th Battalion at Oxney Camp.
He is admitted to an isolation hospital based in Aldershot on August 6, 1916 and at that time reported to be dangerously ill with spinal meningitis.
On August 25, 1916 there is no reported improvement. There is no immediate anxiety according to doctors.
On September 3, 1916 Private Taggart is again diagnosed as damgerously ill.
One month later on October 2, 1916 Private Taggart died from the effects of spinal meningitis.
