The service file of Captain Wellwood states that while he was serving in Calgary, Alberta the cause of his death was loss of pulmonary Compensation. 
The 1901 cesus has him listed and being a student at age 28.
He attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and received his BA degree in 1900 and graduated as a medical doctor in 1902.
The 1916 prairie provinces census of 1916 shows him to be 45 years of age, living in Edmonton West. The census also states he had overseas military service and at that time he was a doctor.
Following his enlistment, he did not depart from Edmonton on August 14, 1915 and travelled to Aldershot – Hampshire – England and joined the Royal Army Medical Corps and was there until September 30, 1915.
He then served at No. 3 Stationary Hospital based at Rouen – France.
